It was only a matter of time.
Fortnite just launched its second-ever "Mini Season," as the final bridge before Chapter 7 arrives next month. Chapter 6 Mini Season 2 centers around The Simpsons, featuring many of the series' characters, weapons, and an entire Springfield map. It didn't take long for Fortnite to find its way into The Simpsons, specifically in the iconic "couch gag."
The Simpsons Fortnite couch gag explained
The Simpsons is in the midst of its 34th year and 37th season, making it the longest-running animated show in history. In the latest episode, titled "Bad Boys... For Life?", the couch gag features an unmistakable Fortnite reference.
As Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart, and Maggie approach the couch, they stumble upon five Fortnite favorites: Jonesy, Hope, Meowscles, Fishstick, and the new Springfielder Peely—the last of which is a skin in this season's Battle Pass. The Simpsons proceed to pull out weapons on them, causing all to flee except for Peely, who falls and meets an unfortunate fate.

He becomes a banana split shared by the entire family while still apparently being alive, considering you can see him blinking. Although a Fortnite-centric Simpsons episode will probably never happen, this is a fun homage and an innovative way to promote the current season.
Not the first, but one of the more comical references

Given Fortnite's significant impact on pop culture, this is by no means the first time the game has been referenced in TV shows, movies, and even music. However, on the topic of animated shows, Amazon Prime's Invincible included a small tip of the cap to Fortnite in the season 2 finale "I Thought You Were Stronger."
While much briefer and less apparent, these homages to Fortnite speak to its position beyond gaming. The game's frequent collaborations keep it relevant and allow it to function as an effective marketing tool. It's the very reason we witnessed a record-breaking number of partnerships during Fortnitemares 2025.
Fortnite provides a window into a younger demographic, which is something a show like The Simpsons could use in the current landscape. Players having the chance to meet and familiarize themselves with these characters is infinitely valuable.
