Peely Squad united for this $100K Fortnite tournament.
The Fortnite Reunion tournament hosted by BoomTV went down last night with a mix of new players and legends. Some names in attendance for the $100K Zero Build competition included SypherPK, Bugha, CouRageJD, Summit, NICKMERCS, DrDisrespect, and more. This collection of players on the Fortnite OG map would not disappoint. While 40 Duos entered, the Fortnite Reunion led to an iconic potassium-filled finale as various teams became one.
The "Peely Squad" takeover brings Fortnite Reunion to a hilarious conclusion
BoomTV pulled out all the stops for this once-in-a-lifetime competition that may never be replicated again. The blend of young Fortnite talent and legends of the past made this a must-watch event. However, with one game remaining and the Fortnite World Cup and FNCS Champion on the brink of another victory, the Peely Squad arrived.
In an attempt to defeat the “sweats,” the content creators organized a rebellion against the top players. The group comprised of SypherPK, NickEh30, CouRageJD, and many more collaborated to make one giant team–all with different versions of the Peely skin. They aimed to eliminate every non-Peely skin and earn one massive Victory Royale.
Although a professional player still somehow ultimately won the game, the Peely Squad became an iconic movement in the final match. Unfortunately, drama unfolded after the fact, with many alleging collusion in the final Fortnite Reunion tournament match.
Critics say the Peely Squad movement broke terms of service (TOS)
While the Peely Squad finale was fun and games for some, others took to X with criticisms of the content creators. Considering the hefty prize pool, many Fortnite creators and players felt that the Peely Squad went against competitive integrity and broke the game’s terms of service.
SypherPK fired back at critics, declaring that he received the green light from the Fortnite Reunion tournament admins to proceed with the viral team-up moment. He and others felt it was unfair that the competition allowed teams with two professional players. As a result, the top competitors would rise, so this was the creator’s attempt to make a statement.
