Find out which weapons and Mythics have changed in today’s update.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 has not even been out for a week, but that didn't stop Epic Games from deploying some much-needed changes. An August 20 update adjusted a trio of weapons based on community feedback. Two of these three weapons are specific to the season's Marvel theme: War Machine's Arsenal and Captain America's Shield. Here is a list of patch notes compiled in the August 20 Fortnite update.
Fortnite patch notes for the August 20 update
- Sovereign Shotgun aims down sights more quickly and fires faster while doing so.
- Captain America’s Shield does slightly less damage, will require more accuracy to ‘hone’ in on an enemy, and Staggers more quickly when blocking damage.
- War Machine’s Arsenal Rockets deal slightly less damage to structures and take longer to reload.
Firstly, the Fortnite patch notes state that the newly introduced Sovereign Shotgun received a buff to its aim down sight (ADS) ability, including the speed at which you ADS and how quickly the weapon fires. Previously, many players felt the new Shotgun paled compared to the Gatekeeper. This change should make it at least slightly more viable.
Next is Captain America's Shield, a weapon many felt was far too strong this season. Critics stated the difficulty in countering the weapons, which prompted Epic Games to adjust it. Captain America's Shield deals less damage, and players cannot throw it as easily. Furthermore, attacks on Shield users will Stagger faster, putting the user in a more vulnerable position.
Lastly, the Mythic War Machine's Arsenal Rockets deal less damage to structures and require more time to reload. Those wielding the Arsenal Rockets could abuse this aspect of the weapon by pressuring enemies hidden within built structures. However, it's no longer as easy to exploit this aspect of the weapon.
