The Olympian Items will return to the game in a few weeks.
The Fortnite Olympian Items have been vaulted, and they won't be back for a while. Here's why they're gone, and when they'll make a return.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 saw the addition of several thematic items tying into the Greek myth-inspired update to the game. These three items were the Wings of Icarus, the Thunderbolt of Zeus, and Chains of Hades. Fortnite announced on April 12 that all three would be getting vaulted and temporarily removed from the game.
Olympian Items vaulted in Fortnite
Fortnite has officially vaulted all of the Greek Myth-themed items that had been added to the game at the start of the new Season.
Many Fortnite fans expressed confusion as to why Epic Games would introduce specific items for the thematic of the season only to quickly take them away. The truth is simpler than it may seem. Epic Games is wary of letting the game get too dependent on high-impact items. With the new Avatar: The Last Airbender collaboration, Epic Games is letting that take center stage in gameplay over the seasonal items.
The Avatar: The Last Airbender collaboration introduces four new Mythic items, all elemental Bending-based. The combination of the mobility from the wings, the splash damage of the thunderbolt, and the displacement of the chains would make the game incredibly fast-paced if combined with the AoE prowess of the bending items.
In short, it seems the developer is prioritizing the game's current pace by limiting the pool of powerful items.
