Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 2 is just around the corner, and fans are starting to notice changes in the map.

Chapter 5, Season 1 is rumored to end during the beginning of March, specifically on March 8, 2024. While this isn't confirmed, the game has already started to add new additions to its map, preparing players for Chapter 5, Season 2.

One of these recent additions was the add of earthquakes, where small cracks are seen in the ground scattered throughout the island.

Earthquakes are happening around the map, preparing players for Season 2

While there haven't been any noticeable earthquakes in the game yet, many have started to notice the cracking in the ground. Fortnite in the past has added weird shaking quakes and other different mechanics that would happen randomly throughout a game, so earthquakes are nothing new.

But what does this mean for the story?

Well, while we have no actual proof of this, it can easily be assumed that the map is going to see a significant change going into Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 2. Already, with recent updates, we have seen some significant changes to characters and locations.

One hypothesis is that the volcano is coming back. The shifting of fault lines, which causes earthquakes, also helps for volcanoes to arise. Fortnite has been notorious for bringing back old locations, so it wouldn't be unheard of to see them do this with the next season.

What will actually happen to the map is unknown, though, and players will have to wait until March to find out.

Additional leaks for Season 2

There have been very few leaks for Chapter 5, Season 2. In fact, the only real leaks are collaborations that we may see next season, but there are definitely hints at what is to come (including the earthquake).

As time goes by, and the map continues to change, we should get some more leaks and information on what to expect in Chapter 5, Season 2 of Fortnite.
