Fortnite is officially back on iOS devices in the US, meaning you can, once again, play the game on your iPhone or iPad.

Yes, you read that correctly. The world-famous Battle Royale, Fortnite, is officially back on iOS. This comes after five years of being removed from iPhones due to an issue between Apple and Epic Games. Now, the popular game can once again be played on iOS devices in the US.

Fortnite announces its return to iOS in the US

Fortnite was removed from iOS back in 2020 when Epic Games and Apple disagreed on the extra tax Apple took on all purchases made within Fortnite. This quickly led to a massive lawsuit and the removal of an Epic Games game from iPhones and other iOS systems.

However, this was not just in the US but the whole world. Android devices were the only phones still capable of playing the Battle Royale. That was, until Epic Games found a loophole that allowed iOS devices to download Fortnite within certain countries in Europe.

However, this was not enough, as many creators and gamers played Fortnite specifically on their iOS devices.

Fortnite is back on iPhones, iPads and more

Have an iOS device and have been longing to play Fortnite on it again? Luckily, the game announced today (May 20, 2025) that the game is now available to download for free on iOS devices. This comes after Fortnite announced last week that it had submitted a request for Apple to unblock the game in the US.

And now, the Battle Royale is finally back to play on iOS devices. Mobile players who own an iPhone can now play Fortnite wherever they go.

Fortnite posted this update on its Twitter earlier today: "Fortnite is BACK on the App Store in the U.S. on iPhones and iPads... and on the Epic Games Store and AltStore in the E.U.! It’ll show up in Search soon!"
