Here’s the scoop about competitive Fortnite in 2026!

The official 2025 Fortnite Global Championship broadcast has revealed a rough outline of what players and fans can expect from the competitive scene in 2026. In a bombshell announcement, Epic confirmed a switch from Trios to Duos for the main FNCS competition, as well as the occurrence of four LANs throughout the year.

Although the finer details are not yet available, this article outlines everything we learned about competitive Fortnite in 2026.

Epic Games has changed the primary format from Trios to Duos

After multiple years of Duos tournaments, players and fans campaigned for something new. This led to an entire year of Trios where fans and competitors were able to see a different style of Fortnite. However, the Trios format will be a thing of the past following the 2025 Global Championship.

Although not a secret by any means, Epic Games has announced Duos will return for the FNCS in 2026. As a result, all existing Trios will split and search for a partner to compete alongside. The announcement did not include anything regarding the seasonal FNCS tournaments.

Four Fortnite LANs will fill out the 2026 FNCS schedule

The year 2025 marked the first time Epic Games hosted two official Fortnite LANs: the Pro-Am and the Global Championship. Much to the delight of fans and players, 2026 has four Fortnite LAN events in store. While Globals will remain, Epic Games has decided to keep the Pro-Am in the rotation.

Additionally, an FNCS Mid-Season LAN and a Reload Elite Series LAN will occur during the 2026 season. One will presumably be a more traditional Fortnite Battle Royale tournament, while the other will be a Reload tournament. It's also worth noting that one of these four competitions will take place in Europe.

Additional announcements include Ranked 2.0 and a $1 million Mobile tournament

Beyond the Fortnite FNCS intel for 2026, Epic Games teased an updated Ranked mode, which has declined from a player-based perspective. Lastly, the recent return of Fortnite on iOS in multiple countries has surely inspired Epic Games to invest in the mobile community.

That investment happens to be $1 million, as noted in the announcement of a Fortnite Mobile Series. Those details are also a mystery, but you can expect players from all platforms to learn Fortnite Mobile and make a play for the $1 million.
