Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 is mere hours away from landing on your go-to platform. The latest season, dubbed “Wrecked,” gives serious apocalypse vibes, but it’s a fun kind of apocalypse. Players that load into Fortnite on Friday, May 24, can expect the return of moddable vehicles, new weapons, new locations, new Medallions, and more.   • Boom Bolt – A fast-firing moddable crossbow that shoots explosive bolts.

New Medallions in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3

All four Medallions from the Myths & Mortals season have rotated out in favor of three replacements. The new Medallions offer different benefits to those who carry them. However, you will still appear on the map to all enemies in your game. 

Here are the Medallions and what they offer:

  • The Machinist’s Medallion – Regenerates shield over time.
  • Ringmaster Scarr’s Medallion – Gives you infinite ammo and a slight damage buff. 
  • Megalo Don’s Medallion – Infuses you with infinite Nitro.

New Nitro mechanic affects vehicles and players 

Nitro Splash and Nitro Barrels are a new addition per the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 patch notes. These benefit you and your chosen vehicle in a given match.

Here’s a breakdown of how Nitro affects a player and their vehicle:

Nitro Car

  • Driving speed increase
  • Explosive ramming power that deals damage and knockback (must be driving at a sufficient speed)
  • Fuel consumption decrease
  • Buff to attached attack mods

Nitro Player

  • Movement speed increase
  • Explosive bashing power that deals damage and knockback… Bust through builds! (must be moving at a sufficient speed)
  • Stamina consumption decrease (Sprint longer!)
  • Reload speed increase
  • Fall damage immunity

Modded vehicles return in Chapter 5 Season 3

It’s been some time since modded vehicles were possible in Fortnite. They have returned this season with some new and familiar options. 

In addition to the return of Cow Catchers and Chonkers Off-Road Tires, here are the new vehicle mods:

  • Machine Gun Turret – A machine gun that takes the roof slot on your vehicle.
  • Grenade Launcher Turret – A grenade launcher that takes the roof slot on your vehicle.
  • Spiked Bumper – Adds spikes to your bumper to deal more damage to players and objects.
  • Bulletproof Tires – Makes your tires indestructible. 

You can mod your vehicles by visiting a Vehicle Mod Box and selecting whichever mod you want to apply. The Mod Box also allows you to replace existing Mods if and when needed.

Repair Boxes and Service Stations are also on the map, allowing you to repair and refuel your vehicle. 

Capture the War Bus

The War Bus is a new inclusion in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3. There are two on the map in a given match, and non-player characters (NPCs) control them. If you successfully take one over, you can utilize the two cannons and rechargeable EMP pulse horn. 

All skins included in the Battle Pass

Magneto of X-Men fame is a heavy-hitting character in the Chapter 5 Season 3 Battle Pass. However, he won’t be unlockable until July. In the meantime, you can acquire the original characters and some from Bethesda’s Fallout universe depicted above.
