Fortnite plans to shake up the Battle Pass and other Passes beginning in Chapter 6!
Fortnite's Battle Pass system has remained mostly unchanged for the past few years. Players can purchase the seasonal offering for 950 V-Bucks and progressively unlock cosmetic rewards by acquiring Battle Stars. However, Epic Games has revealed major changes to the Fortnite Battle Pass structure in Chapter 6, which is only a few months away. Here is everything we learned about these upcoming adjustments via Fortnite's official blog post.
Fortnite Battle Pass to drop Battle Stars system in Chapter 6
Battle Stars have functioned as a currency for those purchasing the Fortnite Battle Pass. While leveling up, you would receive Battle Stars that you could exchange for cosmetics in the Battle Pass. Epic Games has announced the retirement of this system in a recent blog post.
"To simplify things once all passes progress using XP, we’ll be retiring Festival Points on November 2, followed by Battle Stars and Studs on December 1. Once these earned currencies are retired, the Battle Pass, Music Pass, and LEGO Pass will simply unlock rewards for you to claim as you earn XP."
To be clear, this change extends beyond just the primary Battle Pass. Fortnite's other Passes, including the Festival and LEGO versions, will no longer require a specific method to unlock rewards. Instead, merely earning XP through any game mode will count toward your progress. That means you can simultaneously complete all Battle Passes you have purchased.

When will these changes go into effect?
The blog post indicates that Fortnite will retire Festival Points on Nov. 2, followed by Battle Stars and LEGO Studs on Dec. 1. Epic Games will go live with these changes beginning in the Fortnite Chapter 6 Battle Pass.
Fortnite to offer a Pass Bundle with single tracks
In addition to the information outlined above, Epic Games will retire the dual-track system currently implemented in the LEGO and Festival Passes. Rather than the Free and Premium Tracks, there will be one singular track with Free and Premium rewards available to unlock. You will presumably be able to purchase Premium rewards or stick with the free ones.
Lastly, Epic Games confirmed plans to offer Fortnite's different Passes in one bundle, as referenced in this statement:
"You’ll still need to purchase the Battle Pass, Music Pass, and/or LEGO Pass separately to access all premium rewards in each pass. Stay tuned, you’ll soon have an easy way to snag all premium passes at once!"
All in all, players have reacted positively to this change, calling it a "W" by Epic Games. Fortnite's various Passes became complicated over the years, especially with the addition of Fortnite Festival and LEGO Fortnite. Soon, those troubles will be a thing of the past.
