Arenas Mode is the newest ranked experience in Fortnite, bringing boxfighting back into the main stream for all to enjoy!
The new box fight-focused Arenas Mode will officially arrive in Fortnite on Thursday, April 9. Joining the likes of Ranked and Reload, Arenas provides an ideal setting for players to sharpen their box-fighting skills while earning prizes and other in-game rewards on their journey. Whether you’d prefer to play 1v1 or 2v2, Arenas has something for everyone.
What is Fortnite Arenas Mode? How does it work?
Although boxfights are typically slower and methodical, Arenas Mode emphasizes Solos or Duos that make quick work of their opponents. Once queueing into a match, the first Solo to win 20 rounds or the first Duo to win 15 wins will claim victory. Each lobby will contain 16 players for Solos or 8 Duos, depending on which you choose.
- Solos (16 players) or Duos (8 teams)
- First player to win 20 rounds wins in Solos
- First team to win 15 rounds wins in Duos
You can challenge players to a 1v1 Showdown

An interesting twist on the ‘Showdown’ aspect of Chapter 7 Season 2 is also available in the new Fortnite Arenas Mode. You can locate players using the rivalry leaderboard and challenge someone to a 1v1. This won’t affect Ranked, and the first player to 7 eliminations wins.
How to earn rewards in Arenas Mode
Epic Games has revealed two rewards that players can unlock. These are quest-based Fortnite rewards that will appear in-game when Arenas Mode launches on April 9. Below, we have provided a look at the Back Bling and Spray rewards available.

- Builder’s Crest Back Bling
- Cracked Blueprint Spray
It’s unclear whether more will become available after April 9. That may depend on how popular Fortnite Arenas becomes over time.
What is a boxfight?
Boxfights have been in Fortnite for many years, dating as far back as Chapter 2. It became a go-to for players fine-tuning their ability to take walls, peaks, learn piece control, and deliver the ever-satisfying 200-pump to their enemies. It has since become an important aspect of competitive Fortnite, with all the top players perfecting the art.
Although creative maps exist for boxfighting, Fortnite Arenas Mode brings that back to the mainstream, incentivizing participation. Epic Games has introduced four unique maps for players to experience in this new game mode, all of which fit a similar aesthetic to the numerous boxfight maps available on the market.
