Fortnite paid tribute to the viral “67” meme during the game’s cinematic Zero Hour event. More 67 is also on the way in Chapter 7.

It was only a matter of time before Fortnite jumped in on the "67" craze, which has effectively taken over the world. Anyone who frequents social media has likely stumbled across this meme. During Fortnite's recent Zero Hour event, a brief yet unmistakable reference to 67 appeared on-screen.

Furthermore, Epic Games plans to integrate the meme into the game when Fortnite Chapter 7 launches on Saturday, Nov. 29.

Fortnite features a nod to 67 during the Zero Hour live event

The "67" moment occurred after the Zero Hour event concluded, when a mysterious ship destroyed the Battle Bus. Following a fade to black, the screen flashed "Chapter 6" before Chapter faded out, and a "7" faded into the frame.

If only for a moment, Epic Games leaned into the 67 meme during arguably the most significant Fortnite event of all time. However, based on recent leaks, it may not be just a momentary thing.

Fortnite Chapter 7 will feature an emoticon based on the meme

Whether you love or hate the meme, we have either good or bad news. A recent leak from X user l3stei, a 67 Emoticon, will be available at some point in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1. Many leakers have theorized this could be a Battle Pass item, but we won't know until Season 1 launches on Nov. 29.

It's only a matter of time before a 67 Emote becomes a reality in the game. Epic Games tends to capitalize on viral memes, dances, and more.

What is the 67 meme?

The meme originated from the song "Doot Doot (6 7)" by the artist Skrilla. It has since developed a connection to basketball. Current Charlotte Hornets player LaMelo Ball spotted reciting the meme when asked his height, which is 6 feet 7 inches.

Since then, an Internet personality named Maverick Trevillian, known as the 6 7 kid, went viral for shouting the phrase at a basketball game while performing the signature arm gesture. The meme has since found its way into pop culture, including video games like Overwatch and, more recently, Fortnite.

We'll have to wait and see if Epic Games further injects the meme into it, but its appearance in the Zero Hour event is not something people expected.
