You can now spend money on V-Bucks and get more money for more V-Bucks via Epic Games Rewards!

Epic Games has announced a significant overhaul to its Epic Rewards system. Beginning today, all purchases using Epic's payment system in Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys will give you 20% back in rewards. Furthermore, the 20% rewards increase will apply to the Epic Games Store through Aug. 31.

Those who utilize this benefit can turn the 20% return into additional in-game purchases made in Fortnite and other games.

Players will now receive 20% back on purchases made via Epic Games' payment system

In a statement made in an official Epic Games blog post, the company outlines this new rewards update:

"Starting today, when you make a purchase in Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys using Epic’s payment system globally on PC, iOS, Android, and the web, you’ll get 20% back in Epic Rewards. You can spend your rewards in Fortnite and our other games, or on the Epic Games Store when you use Epic’s payment system. These 20% rewards in Epic's games are here to stay."

Epic Games 20% rewards update

As depicted in the image above, those who spend $22.99 for 2,800 V-Bucks will receive 20% in return via Epic Rewards, which is $4.60. You can then use that $4.60 and any other rewards earned via this program.

Epic Games co-founder and CEO Tim Sweeney commented on this update, referencing the recent ruling in the ongoing Epic Games vs. Apple court proceeding.

Based on Sweeney's comment, this coincides with Fortnite's upcoming return to iOS in the United States. Epic Games' legal battle with Apple surfaced in 2020 regarding the former's attempt to circumvent Apple's "predatory" commission on in-app purchases.

The Epic Rewards update benefits those who purchase via the Epic Games Store rather than Apple's in-app option. Ultimately, it gives back to the players who prefer to stick with Epic, which they can parlay into more games and in-game cosmetics.

The community reacts to more savings

Those in the gaming community reacted positively to Epic's 20% back rewards update. Beyond adding more currency to your pocket, as X user Snowchimp_Dev points out, it represents the company continuing to fight for the people. The recent ruling changed the landscape for Apple.

This may be a taste of what Epic Games has in store ahead of Fortnite's inevitable return to iOS. For now, let the V-Bucks flow and enjoy the rewards of your purchases!
