Is the rumored Fortnite IP ban wave real?
Epic Games has coordinated a crackdown on players violating Fortnite's terms of service (TOS). Amid lawsuits launched against cheaters and exploiters, rumors have surfaced recently regarding a potential Fortnite IP ban wave. Epic Games has officially addressed and clarified these rumors in a statement.
Here's the latest on Epic Games' crusade against anyone who attempts to circumvent the system.
Is there an ongoing Fortnite IP ban wave?
The latest correspondence on the IP ban wave matter stems from a recent report regarding Epic Games' efforts to crack down on account sharing. X user LazerLyss compiled a list of items, chief among them was the company's plans to reduce account sharing, selling, and purchasing.

While not referred to as a "ban wave," Fortnite players who buy, sell, or share accounts risk a permanent account termination. Epic Games did not immediately publicize their efforts until March 18 via the Fortnite Status account.
In response to a post detailing the supposed IP ban waves, Epic Games clarified its approach to these types of situation:
"Hey! That's correct, anyone can play Fortnite from different devices. We always recommend logging out of a shared device to protect the account.
And to clarify — we don’t do ban waves based on IP address. When we find accounts we believe are compromised, we’ll disable it to protect the owner and so the account can be recovered."
Epic Games has thus confirmed that Fortnite IP ban waves do not exist. Instead, the company closely monitors accounts it believes to be compromised and disables them until the original owners can recover them.
Those who travel consistently or play at a friend's house should be safe, provided you have taken the proper precautions.

How do I ensure my Fortnite account is safe?
Given Epic Games' recent crackdown on cheating account sharing, the best approach is not to cheat, purchase someone's account, or sell yours. This activity can put the account at risk of a permanent ban, and Epic does not usually listen to appeals.
Unfortunately, anyone who bought an account to obtain rare skins is already in danger of having their account eliminated. Anyone using multiple platforms should not be afraid as the reported Fortnite IP ban wave does not exist.
If you have already suffered a permanent account ban, Epic will begin lifting those beginning in April.
