Is Fortnite now owned by Disney?

If you are up-to-date at all with the gaming world, you will have probably seen Fortnite's interesting announcement yesterday regarding Disney. The popular video game made by Epic Games announced an official partnership with Disney but didn't give fans as much information as they would have liked.

So the question many are asking is, "Did Disney buy Fortnite?"

Does Disney now own Fortnite?

The simple answer is, no, Disney does not own Fortnite. Though, the company has invested $1.5 billion in the popular Battle Royale, making them one of the highest stakeholders in Epic Games.

So what exactly does this mean?

The new partnership between the two companies opens the popular game up to an infinite number of possibilities. Not only does Disney have some of the most iconic characters and worlds that could fuse together with Fortnite, but their universe expands in ways people do not even realize.

Think Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, Indiana Jones and more. All of these massive franchises are owned by Disney, and while Fortnite has already had collaborations with many, this massive buy-in from Disney adds so much more depth to the already expanding universe of Fortnite.

The future of Fortnite x Disney

There is a lot that is still unknown about the future of the two companies, but with an empire as large as Disney investing in Fortnite, we can only expect to see some of the craziest crossovers in gaming history.

This stake buy-in not only pushes Fortnite to an all-new level, but Disney has made it quite clear that their goal remains in gaming as a whole.

Whether this stems from Fortnite Creative or becomes a whole new game itself, the world of Disney and Fortnite is about to get so much bigger, and we get to stand on the sidelines and watch and participate.
