Guilty Gear Strive Slayer: Gameplay

According to the character trailer, Slayer has effective punishment tools. Opponents should avoid making mistakes and whiff. Slayer players should be ready to react quickly and understand which of their opponent's moves can be punished.

The neutral move set of Slayer in GGST involves whirling around close-range attacks.

Slayer starter guide

Arc System Works traditionally publishes detailed video guides for GGST characters. The starter guide for Slayer includes information on a variety of his moves and abilities.

  • GGST Slayer — A heavy-hitting character who can surprise an opponent with a sudden burst of quick attacks.
  • Mappa Hunch, 236 P or K — A far-reaching strike. Slayers dashes a bit forward. The start-up is quick, and the move can be landed as a follow-up after the normals.
  • Dandy Step, 214 P or K — A command movement that doesn’t hit on its own, but can be used to approach an opponent and land a quick follow-up.
  • Pilebunker, P during Dandy Step — The quickest follow-up from 214 P/K. The damage is high, but the move is minus on block.
  • Bump Ahead, K during Dandy Step — A swiping low kick. It’s good as a mix-up tool. Slayer is safe on block.
  • It’s Late, S during Dandy Step — A far-reaching overhead that can be even used as an anti-air.
  • Master’s Hammer, S during Dandy Step — A strike attack after a quick low jump. Slayer is with plus frames on block.
  • Bloodsucking Universe, 63214 HS — Slayers sucks blood and recovers a little of his health. The character should stand right near an opponent to not whiff, but the move is unblockable. It also applies new features for some other moves, making more mix-ups possible.
