Robert Kirkman on Invincible VS

In a new video by EvoFGC posted on June 9, Kirkman, the co-creator of the Invincible series, shared his thoughts on the upcoming fighting game. While he's had plenty of cool experiences like being on sets and watching the comic become a TV show, playing as Invincible characters in a fighting game made him quite emotional.

"It was so magical. It was so exciting. I cried," Kirkman said in the video.

He continued, adding how the brutal fights are a defining part of Invincible in both the comics and the TV show. However, what's different about Invincible VS is how it really immerses players in battles.

"This game is really the first time that you can actually experience these and feel them as you're living them," Kirkman added. "And to be honest, some of the fights in the game can get kind of more intense than the things that we've been able to accomplish in the show, which is really exciting for me."

Maximilian Dood reviews Invincible VS gore and first impressions

Kirkman was joined by folks such as content creator Maximilian Dood, Invincible VS combat designer Reepal "Rip" Parbhoo, and Invincible VS narrative director Mike Willette as well.

"It's something that dials up the intensity of action, the intensity of violence, the intensity of combat," Maximilian Dood said. He then observed how one of the most impactful things in a fighting game is one's first impression of it. The gore in Invincible VS, in particular, stood out to him.

"Like when you press buttons, when you do stuff, what is the response?" Maximilian Dood explained. "And yeah, watching a 3v3 tag fighter with so much gore, that was the first thing that was like, 'Wow, this is different. This is something I've never seen before.'"

Meanwhile, Rip said that most fighting games today don't give developers the chance to create something completely new because fans expect the series to stay the same. However, with this project, there's freedom to create something without limits.
