One vague video caused a lot of hype in the community. Kenshiro would add a wild energy into the playable roster of FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves (CotW)!
It has become a good tradition for SNK Corporation to share short anime videos connected to their game FATAL FURY CotW. The previous shorts featured story episodes and sneak peeks at the characters. The video from Jan. 8 looks like a clear teaser of a great collaboration in Season 2.
The fighting games community (FGC) was quick to craft a theory. The teaser was read as the announcement of Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star coming to FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves.
Kenshiro in FATAL FURY CotW? A short teaser
The teaser is very concise with its message. Let’s take a look at the key moments.
- We can see the boots in the very beginning, and the style is very similar to Kenshiro's.
- Two scared kids were reportedly featured in previous FATAL FURY games.
- Thugs threaten the kids, but the appearance of someone from behind stops them.
- One of the bandits receives a finger touch on his forehead, which causes very distinct visual effects of pain.
Kenshiro is a master of the deadly martial art Hokuto Shinken. A few touches, and the victim can be dead — as Kenshiro knows vital points to strike and cause a disaster. It’s pretty much what happened with the bad guys in the teaser!
Season 2 is coming to FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves
Since the release, FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves has received five DLC characters of Season 1. They come from the original series, Andy, Joe, and Mr. Big, and from Street Fighter, Ken and Chun-Li.
The official social post has confirmed that Season 2 in FATAL FURY CotW starts in January 2026.
Considering having no info on the first character, it feels quite possible that Kenshiro can open FATAL FURY Season 2. SNK are traditionally quick with these releases. Chun-Li became available with no long wait after the date was revealed at the SNK World Championship 2025.
The community generally agrees that Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star would be a crazy good addition to FATAL FURY CotW. The character literally has a touch of death (ToD), and it’s interesting to see how a fighting game moveset adapts such an ability.
The possible collaboration seems even more real as a new Fist of the North Star anime comes in 2026. The first anime adaptation ran from 1984 to 1987.
As SNK enjoys timing their reveal with big esports events, we should keep a close eye on everything happening at Frosty Faustings XVIII, from Jan. 29 to Feb. 1.
