Wazzler should be giggling in anticipation, ready to destroy his opponents on the biggest fighting games stage.

Evo 2025 remains the biggest fighting games esports event of the year. We have Evo Japan, with awesome vibes of the genre’s birthplace. Evo France 2025 also joins the series for the first time ever. However, nothing can be compared to the scale of Evo Las Vegas!

Now, we know the main Evo 2025 lineup, and it’s surprising and traditional at the same time. All the details are here.

Eight fighting games in the Evo 2025 lineup

Evolution Championship Series 2025, which is commonly known as Evo 2025, features eight fighting game titles.

  • Street Fighter 6
  • TEKKEN 8
  • Guilty Gear Strive
  • Mortal Kombat 1
  • Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
  • Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
  • Under Night In-Birth II
  • Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Extended lineup

Even if the main Evo 2025 lineup is the most important, the extended one is a necessary part of the event. So many people from the fighting games community (FGC) gather to play their favorite titles, and the Evo organizers offer this opportunity with many side events.

For now, these games in the extended lineup for Evo 2025 have been confirmed:

  • The King of Fighters XV
  • Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.
  • BlazBlue: Central Fiction
  • Killer Instinct
  • Rivals of Aether II

Expected titles and a surprise

It's obvious that the biggest modern fighting games are featured at Evo 2025. Such titles serve as the backbone of the event, with developers integrating the tournaments into their official global esports leagues.

It is pretty early to have official confirmations, but we certainly can expect the following:

  • Street Fighter 6: Evo 2025 should have the highest status among the Capcom Cup 12 qualifiers since Street Fighter 6 Evo 2024 was won by Punk.
  • TEKKEN 8: The TEKKEN World Tour 2024 event is over, and TWT 2025 has been officially announced. Evo 2025 absolutely must be a Master event.
  • Guilty Gear Strive: This title is part of the Arc World Tour 2024, and the situation shouldn’t change this year. The fate of GBVSR and UNI2 are not so certain, as these games are made with partners of Arc System Works.
  • Mortal Kombat 1: Pro Kompetition Season 2 starts in February, and we can expect Evo 2025 MK1 to be included in the series. That wasn’t the case in 2024, though.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves: The new title!

It’s the newest game by SNK. This game is a fresh installment in the legendary series. Everyone expected to have Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves in the Evo 2025, and it is deeply satisfying to see this happening.

The game is not out yet, but the hype is already real — with many great characters confirmed for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

As for the esports side of things, the title should be part of the SNK World Championship 2026, maybe alongside KOF XV.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 — Wazzler time

Evo often has a classic title in its lineup. It was Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike at Evo 2024. Now, it’s Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

In general, this is quite surprising. Maybe the release of the Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection played its part, as the series got a boost of interest. And having a wide variety of titles highlighted at Evo is certainly great.

One pro player should be especially happy about this. Justin Wong, an eight-time EVO champion for MvC2, is a mighty player. The MvC community knows him as Wazzler in the online environment: meeting this opponent in matchmaking is terrifying. It is growth through pain. Will Justin win MvC2 Evo 2025? This certainly is quite a show to follow!

There will be many great FGC gatherings and exciting tournaments before Evo takes place in Las Vegas from Aug. 1 to Aug. 3. For all fighting games news and updates, stick around on esports.gg!
