Worlds collide as Tundra Esports announce that Virgil Van Dijk is joining the organization as an ambassador and shareholder.
Tundra Esports have announced that world-renowned footballer Virgil Van Dijk has joined the organization as their newest ambassador and shareholder. Tundra Esports, best known for their Dota2 roster, have become the latest organization to partner up with a famous athlete. And there aren't many out there as big as Van Dijk right now.
Virgil Van Dijk joins Tundra Esports
The UK-based organization was founded back in 2019 and has since gained a substantial following since then. They have also brought on "world-class athletes" in the form of their high-flying Dota2 roster. So bringing on a football player as big as Van Dijk certainly shows they are ambitious to say the least.
“This is a major moment for Tundra," said Tundra Esports' Owner and Co-Founder Maxim Demin. "Having someone like Virgil, who is highly revered both on and off the pitch, join our team is incredible. His insight will be invaluable for our players but also how we evolve as an organisation. We have so much we can learn from sports
Van Dijk currently plays as a professional football player for English Premier League side Liverpool. The dutchman has won several trophies, including the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League. And he was named the Premier League Player of The Season during the 2018/19 season.
Outside of football he is quite the avid gamer, who spends quite a bit of his free time playing FIFA and Racing-Sim games. Through joining Tundra's ranks it seems the worlds of Esports and traditional Sports are growing that much closer.
“I am extremely excited to be joining Tundra Esports," said Van Dijk. "Tundra Esports is one of the fastest growing esports organizations in the world and they are moving in a very exciting direction. They have built up a tremendous reputation when it comes to player well-being within a winning culture which is something that really resonates with me. I’m excited for the future”.
We won't know just how big of an impact Van Dijk will have on Tundra Esports as a whole for quite some time. But one thing that is for certain about this new and exciting partnership is that it has certainly strengthened the ever-growing the relationship that exists between Sports and Esports. And that is an exciting prospect to say the least.

Van Dijk announced via P-Money song "Outplayed"
Van Dijk's announcement as a new Tundra Esports ambassador came via the release of rapper P-Money's new single "Outplayed". P-Money joined up with Tundra as an ambassador and content creator back in 2021. In fact the whole idea for the song came via a collaborative effort between P-Money and Tundra's Director of Marketing & Content Danny Lopez.
“Announcing his [Van Dijk's] involvement through OUTPLAYED was a stroke of genius from P Money," stated Demin. "It’s been great to have his support and creativity to do something different that not only helps us stand out but is also something for the community. Hopefully, the community finds it as catchy as we do!”
Dubbed by Tundra as "the first official grime gaming song", Outplayed is a gaming anthem like no other. With it's fast-paced tempo and lyrics chock full of gaming references, it is a song that serves to bridge the gap between the gaming and music industries. Something that P-Money feels very passionate about.
“OUTPLAYED is a gaming anthem for everyone to enjoy," said P-Money. "Grime and gaming pair perfectly - they have the same energy and hype, its two completely separate worlds merging. It’s been fantastic to be able to combine my two passions and to introduce my music fan base to what I’ve been doing in gaming. I want to show how both can go hand in hand and bring out others who’ve been interested but never quite had the confidence to do it."
