Since its inception in 2015, the annual ceremony has honored the top esports athletes, titles, and more. Previous events have occurred in the United States, but with this announcement, the Esports Awards 2024 will head to Saudi Arabia. According to the official press release, the Esports Awards will announce categories on June 27, with a fan vote to follow.

Esports Awards CEO Michael Ashford spoke on the partnership, stating it will ensure an exceptional experience for all involved.

“The Esports Awards have always been dedicated to celebrating incredible achievements in esports, so we naturally saw the opportunity to join forces with EWC in Riyadh as an excellent fit. The Middle East is home to one of the fastest growing and most passionate esports communities in the world and I’m delighted to be bringing the awards to the region for the first time. I cannot wait for this year’s ceremony, which I expect will be the most impressive and memorable one yet.”

The Esports World Cup (ESWC) 2024 will replace the previous Saudi-based Gamers8 tournament from previous years. It currently features 18 competitive gaming titles and two unknown, including Fortnite, Counter-Strike 2, DOTA 2, Street Fighter, Tekken, and many more. These lineups offer a variety of formats and qualification processes. However, the driving force is a staggering $60M prize pool spread across 20 games.

From July 4 to August 25, many of the world's most talented esports athletes will compete for life-changing money. Following the event, we expect the Esports Awards 2024 to honor many of these gamers in their annual ceremony for the next three years and potentially beyond.
