Cloud9 becomes the fourth partnered team to leave Halo esports

Another one bites the dust. Halo just lost one of the best-performing teams in the HCS as Cloud9 announces departure.

The state of Halo esports continues to look grim as one of the top teams, Cloud9 announced its disbandment. The org joins the pool of other partnered organizations that have dropped out of the Halo Championship Series (HCS) including Fnatic, Spacestation Gaming, and eUnited.

"Multiple trophies, years of dedication, and memories we'll never forget. For all you've done for the C9 family - THANK YOU, C9 HALO!" the North American organization announced.

With team members: Adam "Bound" Gray, Kevin "Eco" Smith, Zane "Penguin" Hearon, Braedon "StelluR" Boettcher, and coach Emanuel "Hoaxer" Lovejoy, Cloud9 fielded a dominant roster. It recently soared high in the Halo World Championship and secured 2nd place behind Optic Gaming.

Prior to this achievement, Cloud9 has consistently been on top, even winning the HCS North America Pro Series. But despite being one of the world's best Halo teams, Cloud9 did not last. And with such a notable organization opting to quit the circuit, Halo esports remains on a plummeting pattern.

Penguin posted his farewell message.

C9's coach also dropped his thoughts, "Since day zero, my experience here has been one of major growth and maturation. It has been a pleasure working with these boys along with everyone at C9."

Bound simply stated, "F/A", which is short for Free Agent.

As for now, none of the C9 players have confirmed where they are heading next.

Will Cloud9 still compete in Halo?

Aside from the post, Cloud9 has not revealed anything more and there is no confirmation whether or not it will remain to compete in Halo esports. Other organizations that have left the HCS such as Fnatic and eUnited also did not reveal their plans for this title.

The disbandment of such a golden roster means Cloud9 likely has no interest in further committing to Halo esports. Nevertheless, we should keep our eyes peeled for potential updates.
