The Legend of Zelda movie has officially begun filming in New Zealand. Are you prepared to enter Hyrule?
Fan of Zelda and The Lord of the Rings? Well, you will be happy to hear that the official Legend of Zelda movie is being filmed in New Zealand, where the famous Lord of the Rings trilogy was also filmed. And yes, production has officially begun.
Here is everything we know at the moment regarding The Legend of Zelda movie.
The Legend of Zelda movie is currently being filmed in New Zealand
New Zealand is known for its vast mountains, valleys and sea. It is the perfect place to film an epic fantasy series or movie. Peter Jackson knew this back in the late 90s when he shot The Lord of the Rings, which went on to be one of the greatest trilogies of all time. And now, Nintendo is following in the trilogy's footsteps with The Legend of Zelda movie.

It was revealed earlier today by various Zelda fanpage accounts that the show had officially begun filming in New Zealand. In fact, a random stunt double for the film posted photos on his Instagram story showing that he is currently in New Zealand.
This is big news for Zelda fans, as many have wanted a movie representing the famous world of Hyrule and its characters for decades. Well, it looks as if Nintendo is planning on filming this movie right, as New Zealand is every fan's dream location for the set.
However, per IMDB, we also know that some of the movie is being shot in Utah on the Bonneville Salt Flats, which has left fans speculating on just what scene will be taking place here.
Official cast list
At the moment, we only know of the two playing Link and Zelda for the live-action Zelda movie. Nintendo has not revealed a single other name, meaning characters like Ganondorf and others are still under wraps.

The two actors playing the famous characters, however, are both young and relatively new to Hollywood. This is a great sign that Nintendo is hoping to give us another Harry Potter-like saga, where the characters age with the role.
Official cast list for The Legend of Zelda movie:
- Bo Bragason (Zelda)
- Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Link)
The movie is being directed by Wes Ball and is set to release sometime in 2027.
