The Legend of Zelda live-action movie just announced its Link and Zelda… and it is not who you would have expected.
Everyone has been waiting in anticipation for the last few years since Nintendo announced an official live-action Legend of Zelda movie was in the works. However, from the start, we had no idea who would be playing the famous two characters: Zelda and Link. Well, Nintendo has officially announced the two actors portraying Zelda and Link.
And no, neither of them is Chris Pratt.
Zelda actress and Link actor announced for live-action Zelda movie
Out of all video game franchises, The Legend of Zelda might be the most anticipated for an on-screen debut. In fact, the popular RPG series has been around since the 1980s, creating an everlasting fairytale that spans over hundreds of years and multiple timelines.

Since it was announced that the franchise was being turned into a movie, many have been speculating on what actors and actresses would be playing the major characters. Names like Hunter Schafer, Tom Holland and others have been thrown into the mix, but nothing has been announced.
That is, until now.

One thing Nintendo seems to be doing right is keeping the names for this movie, which have actors and actresses who are not well-known. This helps create the illusion centered around the storyline and does not include any names that may prompt you to think of other franchises.
I mean, no one can look at Daniel Radcliffe in a movie without seeing Harry Potter, right?
For Zelda, Nintendo has cast Bo-Bragason. For Link, the official actor portraying him is Benjamin Evan Ainsworth. Neither of these two has portrayed anything incredibly notable within Hollywood just yet, meaning these roles could define their entire future as actors.

The creator of The Legend of Zelda, Shigeru Miyamoto, commented on the announcement this morning via Twitter.
"This is Miyamoto," said Shigeru Miyamoto on Twitter. "I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen."
Both are relatively young, too, which leads people to believe the movie will take place during Link and Zelda's younger years, like at the beginning of Ocarina of Time. This could also be Hollywood hoping to set up a trilogy (or more) for the franchise, allowing the actors to grow into their roles over time.
Live-action Zelda movie to release in 2027
At the moment, the official live-action Legend of Zelda movie is set to release in theaters on May 7, 2027. However, this could easily change as it is two years away.
The movie will be directed by Wes Ball, who was the director for the Maze Runner trilogy and also did the most recent Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

It is no secret that Zelda fans are going to be hyper-critical over this movie, so let's hope that Hollywood and Nintendo do this movie some justice.
