In the official Mickey 17 trailer, we can see that Mickey is in space and feeling a little dizzy before his hand gets cut off. We soon learn that he signed up as an "expendable" in order to leave Earth. It's then revealed that every time Mickey dies, a new version of his body gets reprinted.

"Every time you die, we learn something new, and humanity moves forward," a woman's voice explains in the trailer. We then see another one of Mickey's death scenes. This is followed by him waking up to discover that there are other copies of himself called "Multiples." The next scene has Mark Ruffalo as politician Kenneth Marshall calling for their extermination.
