Beast Games Season 2 Episode 5 recap
Episode 5 of Beast Games Season 2 picked up where the fourth episode left off. The previous episode ended with a major twist where JC received a $10 million coin. MrBeast, also known as James Stephen "Jimmy" Donaldson, explained that if JC makes it to the top six, he'll be allowed to flip the coin to potentially double the prize pool to $10 million.
However, if JC gets eliminated before reaching that point, the coin will be removed with him and the prize pool will remain at a guaranteed $5 million. Episode 5 then had MrBeast offering JC $50,000 for the coin. JC declined the bribe.
Beast Games Season 2 Episode 5 then moved on to the next challenge. "Just like in Season 1, three people are going to enter each cube," MrBeast said.

He continued, "And only two are going to come out. Inside each cube is a pair of handcuffs. Your goal is to decide which of the three of you will handcuff themselves to the wall, self-sacrificing and allowing the other two members to move on in peace games. I don't care if this challenge takes all night. You will all live in these cubes until one of you is chained to the wall."
With only 20 players remaining, one cube had just two contestants: Catey and Ethan. The challenge indeed lasted all night, and by the time the other groups made their decisions, only two cubes remained. One contained Catey and Ethan while the other held the $10 million coin.

In the end, Catey and Ethan decided to leave it up to chance. Inside a box were 16 pieces of paper with both of their names on them. MrBeast pulled out one slip without looking, and it was Ethan's name. Keeping his word, Ethan eliminated himself.
The remaining cube held Jim, JC, and Monica. They agreed to let Monica continue her time in Beast City. Jim and JC then decided to leave their fate to chance as well. Using a 52-card deck, they drew cards one at a time and added up their totals. The player with the higher score would stay. Jim finished with 170 points while JC ended with 150.
JC lost, but he still had the $10 million coin. This gave him leverage. He offered to give the coin to Monica so that both he and the coin could remain in the game. The catch? Jim's self-elimination.

"I've got a lot of game left in me, man," JC said. "You don't want to consider it at all just to keep it in the game? I'll give the coin to Monica."
"Are you saying that you're willing to give the coin to Monika so you and the coin can stay in the game?" MrBeast asked.
"If he self-eliminates, yeah," JC said. "She's going all the way. She can get $10 million. This gives her a lot of power. It helps people push her through."
When MrBeast asked Jim for his thoughts, the latter recalled a promise he made to Monica in a previous episode: "I'm gonna do whatever I got to do to get you there."
The episode then ended on a cliffhanger.
