After years away from the competitive scene, Vici Gaming has announced its official return to professional Dota 2 with a brand-new roster.
Once considered one of China’s premier organizations, Vici Gaming is now looking to reclaim its place among the region’s best teams. Although technically the team stopped competing in 2022, it was only in 2023 that an official announcement was made. Since then, the resurgence of the CN region has begun in Dota 2. While a few teams have already disappeared, VG now looks to add themselves to the roster of strong Chinese contenders in the professional scene.
A revival for Vici Gaming
During the open and closed qualifier for The International 2025, we saw a hint at VG’s return. A team featuring many ex-VG veterans came together. However, while they were mostly doing it for their own fun and streams, it amounted to nothing. This led to Oct. 6, when a post via the official VG Weibo account announced the fresh roster.

The newly formed VG roster features both Guo “Xm” Hongcheng and Wang “Maps” Yutian, with the latter filling the coaching role. These two players were previously of Xtreme Gaming, with both having left through 2025 at different times. With that said, all members of the roster have at one time been a part of XG, except Chung “Ws” Wei Shen, who last played for Talon Esports.
The full VG roster is:
- Lou “Lou” Zhen
- Guo “Xm” Hongcheng
- Chung “Ws” Wei Shen
- Xiong “Pyw” Jiahan
- Ding “Dy” Cong
- Wang “Maps” Yutian (Coach)
With many tournaments to fill the remainder of 2025, the new roster has already found themselves invited to an event. As FISSURE PLAYGROUND #2 approaches, beginning on Oct. 23, VG received a direct invite. Unfortunately for the team, their first tournament back will see them operating with a stand-in. This comes in the form of Lin “Planet” Hao taking the spot of Pyw, due to the player’s wedding coinciding with the event.
Vici Gaming’s return to the Dota 2 pro scene comes as a big surprise. Although with so many roster changes going on during the post-TI shuffle period, teams were bound to return. However, with the fickle nature of rosters in recent times, it is unclear how long they will last. With that said, FISSURE PLAYGROUND #2 will be a great time to see whether or not VG can fight against some of the biggest and best in Dota 2.
