Valve gives us Quartero’s Curios, but it’s not exactly the Battle Pass

A mere month before The International 2025, Valve has dropped what seems almost like a completely free Battle Pass with Quatero’s Curios.

Quartero's Curios has been revealed to the Dota 2 community as Valve adds a new feature to the game. With the Battle Pass being retired two years ago, and the community crying out for some kind of replacement, Valve has given in. Although maybe not exactly what we were hoping for, Quartero's Curios brings a dazzling new feature to the game.

And it is basically a FREE BATTLE PASS.

Quartero’s Curios: Free stuff in Dota 2 – but you have to play the game

With the arrival of patch 7.39d, Dota 2 has introduced a new event called Quartero's Curios, offering players some free cosmetics. Included in this are visual effects for popular items like the Eul’s Scepter, Blink Dagger, Levelling Up effects, and a few others. More notably, the event’s tiered reward system features exclusive set pieces for Vengeful Spirit, Witch Doctor, and Legion Commander.

Earning rewards is simple, as long as you are a Dota 2 player. The game modes that count towards the experience earned are Ranked, Unranked, Turbo, and Public Matchmaking. Wins grant more experience toward progression, while losses and Turbo games contribute less.

Quartero's Curios resembles a free version of a Battle Pass. The chance to earn cosmetics without spending money is a welcome bonus, especially in the lead-up to The International 2025. However, many lament the inclusion of only three new sets, without a new Arcana included. With that said, we are unsure whether or not new skins and items will be added at a later time.

Arcanas and Immortals - but what are the chances?

Six separate levels of the Quartero's Curios track include an item called Quartero’s Antique. The text for this item states that players will “receive one of over one hundred previously released hero sets, with a small chance of getting an Immortal or Arcana." But, with only six chances, do we have a chance of getting many Arcanas?

The event runs until Nov. 5, 2025, providing players with ample time to complete the reward tiers. But we remain unsure whether this means that we get refreshed sets at a later stage.
