The International 2023 is the biggest Dota 2 event with the best teams all over the world participating. It is a special year as 2023 is Dota 2’s official ten-year anniversary. The International will also head back to the United States this year, bringing the game’s hype back to North America. Here’s everything you need to know about The International 2023 including the participating teams, format and more.
What is the International 2023 format?
The International 2023 is the pinnacle of the Dota 2 esports circuit. Twelve teams will qualify for this event via the Dota Pro Circuit. The remaining eight teams qualify via the Regional qualifiers.
Group Stage
Phase One
- Twenty teams form four groups of five teams each
- Single-stage round-robin format
- All series are best-of-two (Bo2) series.
- Top two teams in each group will get matched with opponent from either the 3rd or 4th place teams in the opposite group (A/B and C/D) for phase two
- Bottom team from the group stage is eliminated from the event.
Phase Two
The remaining two teams from Phase one will play eight head-to-head best-of-three matches to determine their placement in the main bracket.
Main Event
The Main event takes place across two parts. The first part runs across three days from October 20-22, 2023. The second part, the Finals weekend will take place from October 27-29, 2023.
