SumaiL returns to Team Nigma as the foundational building block of a new roster.

Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan has returned to the roster of Nigma Galaxy as per an announcement on Nigma’s social media. The news came early on Dec. 21, following a day of dramatic roster moves from the organization.

SumaiL joins Nigma Galaxy as the team’s mid laner with only one other player officially on roster: Nigma founder and figurehead Kuro "KuroKy" Salehi Takhasomi.

The announcement also quells rumors that SumaiL was headed to Southeast Asia as part of a new Bleed Esports roster. Reports that SumaiL would head to the SEA organization surfaced on Dec. 20, amid further rumors that Rafli "Mikoto" Fathur Rahman would would be heading to Nigma Galaxy to replace the outgoing Kasra "Mikey" Mesbah. Mikey, who had been a part of the team since May 2023, was officially released from the team on Dec. 20, following the announcement of Ivan "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov departure, and Maroun "GH" Merhej’s extended break.

Nigma Galaxy, one of the most popular teams in the Dota 2 world, has struggled to maintain success as competitive Dota faced changes in the DPC format. Perhaps most disappointingly, Nigma hasn’t immediately flourished amidst the burgeoning new EMEA region - a region the squad had pioneered.

SumaiL, a TI-winner who has had a transformative effect on almost every team he’s played on, this year acted the part of a journeyman, playing for Nigma, China’s Team Aster, and even filling in for Team Secret at BetBoom Dacha. Now SumaiL will be the foundation on which a new Nigma squad is built.
