SEA DPC is off to a juicy start with shocking upsets by Talon and Fnatic. Epulze sets off with a praiseworthy production team and set.

The SEA DPC is in full swing, with major upsets already in motion. Talon Esports and Fnatic, last year's top dogs, dropped their first series to the new challengers, Execration and Geek Slate. Coupled with a praiseworthy production team and set by Epulze, South-East Asia DPC is off to an exciting start!

It ain't SEA DPC if food isn't involved!

The SEA aren't simply proud of its Dota community. They also have high pride for their cuisines and take their food culture very seriously. Epulze gets an A+ for taking note of that and creating the most scrumptious looking panel stage for SEA DPC. The production team take to the streets as they report on DPC live from the virtual street food stalls of Malaysia, which is where the panel is located.

Pieliedie, please get out and give Malaysia a chance!

Back from Div II, Execration decimated Talon Esports

The first surprise of the day is when Execration, who recently got promoted from Div II, defeated Talon 2-0. Talon Esports came from humble beginnings last year, climbing all the way from Div II to making it to The International 2022. Needless to say, Talon was the favorite going into today's series. Yet Execration took them by surprise by swiftly beating them 2-0. Both series ended in less than 40 minutes. The net worth graph below shows how much of a control Execration had over Talon in the two games.

Geek Slate is back in the game!

After two years of hiatus, Geek Fam, now known as Geek Slate, is back in a glorious fashion. They took down yet another 2022 favorite, Fnatic. Fnatic kept most of their roster aside from enlisting Damien "kpii" Chok from Talon and Kim "Gabbi" Santos from T1 (now disbanded). Fnatic's roster had a much more extensive experience based on the fact that they participated in TI11 when compared to Geek Slate; Rolen "skem" Ong aside. That in itself should indicate who were expected to have the advantage. But once again, the underdog took down the favored. True to SEA Dota fashion, nothing is ever as it seems.

It is only the first day of SEA DPC. Despite of all the telling series of the day, nothing is set in stone any anything can happen. SEA DPC has not seen such a leveled playing field in quite some time. It is truly anyone's game so be sure to tune in to esports.gg and do not miss out on any of the games!
