Sam A. Mowry was the voice of many beloved characters in video games such as Dota 2 and LoL.
Sam A. Mowry, a prominent voice actor in the gaming industry who has voiced many Dota 2 characters and other characters from notable titles, has passed away at the age of 64. The grim news was announced by his wife, Cindy McGean, on her Facebook account.
For those who do not know, my beloved Sam died this morning. His heart gave out. Find each other and share stories and hugs and maybe a glass of whiskey or some bacon. I am heartbroken.”
As stated by Oregon Artswatch, Sam Mowry suffered a cardiac arrest while being prepared to go through an emergency surgery. He passed away on the morning of July 20th at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas, Oregon.
Sam Mowry's legacy in the gaming industry
Although gamers may not particularly know Sam A. Mowry, many will instantly recognize his deep, powerful voice. Sam Mowry is the voice of Dota 2 heroes: Anti-Mage, Beastmaster, Clockwerk, Necrophos, Slardar, and Warlock. Most significantly, he is also the voice of the Shopkeeper, a fundamental figure in the Dota 2 universe who often narrated cinematics.
:( RIP Warlock. "Really, you just did that?" is one of my favorite voice lines in the whole game.
