All you need to know about the Portal Dota 2 World Invitationals 2024.
The Dota 2 scene keeps getting more and more tournaments! This time, it's Portal's turn to impress everyone with an eye-catching $100,000 USD prize pool. Portal Dota 2 World Invitationals is their first step into the game's competitive environment, featuring eight teams and four days of games in double elimination format.
The teams playing the Portal Dota 2 tournament will be the following:
- Navi (Yuragi, sanctity-, nefrit, Zayac, Malady)
- 1win (Munkushi~, CHIRA_JUNIOR, Cloud, swedenstrong, RESPECT)
- B8 (NINAMIN, Dendi, StoneBank, CTOMAHEH1, Mary_y)
- L1GA (RAMZES666, reibl, bb3px, OneJey, pantomem)
- MOUZ (Ulnit, Supream^, Force, NARMAN, Bengan)
- Natus Vincere Jr. (gotthejuice, Niku, pma, daze, Riddys)
- Nouns Esports (Yuma, Copy, Gunnar, Lelis, Fly)
- One team is yet to be announced.
Dates, format and prize pool distribution
Seedings are not public yet. However, we know the tournament is set to begin on March 28, at 7:00 EDT. The games will start at the same time every day. You can find more information on this (and follow the brackets) on their website when they update it.
As for the $100,000 USD prize pool, the distribution will be as follows:
- 1st Place: $50,000 USD
- 2nd Place: $25,000 USD
- 3rd Place: $10,000 USD
- 4th Place: $7,000 USD
- 5th - 6th Place: $4,000 USD
- 7th - 8th Place: $2,500 USD
Tournament features
On a press release in Yahoo! Finance, Portal is described as a next-gen gaming platform and publisher with 200+ partner games at launch, meaning it is a cryptocurrency powered entity. In this article, Portal says that they will sell "DOTA2-themed chests", including in-game items. The only way to access them will be through the $PORTAL cryptocurrency.
