In Dota 2’s Patch 7.37, two neutral items are out and two familiar items enter the game.

Valve just dropped an unexpected Patch 7.37 update, dealing plenty of meta-changing adjustments in the game. One of the most significant changes is the occasional neutral item cycle, where a few are removed and re-added into the game. Check out the changes below!

Patch 7.37: Neutral Items removed

It is time for farewells as two of Dota 2's neutral items are sent to the bench. While some received buffs and nerfs, some had to entirely leave the game. Below are the neutral items removed in Patch 7.37.

Fairy Trinket

  • +50 Health
  • +5% Mana Loss Reduction
  • +5% Spell Damage Amplification

This neutral item was one of the favorites among Tier 1 items and was a beloved choice for spell-oriented heroes. Fairy Trinket gives plenty of stats including a valuable spell damage amplification.

Fairy Trinket has been in Dota 2 since December 2020. It arrived alongside many other new neutrals in Patch 7.28, which was also the same update that welcomed Hoodwink! After more than three years in Dota 2, it's time to bid farewell to Fairy Trinket as Valve cycles it out.

Martyr's Plate

  • +5 Health Regen
  • +25% Magic Resistance
  • Active: Martyrdom - Redirects 25% of all magic damage dealt to your allied heroes within 900 radius towards you for 10 seconds.

The next item to leave the roster of neutral items is Martyr's Plate. It is a Tier 4 neutral item that allows you to tank hefty magical damage for your teammates. It was usually a pretty niche pick, more used on heroes like Abaddon and Centaur Warrunner.

Martyr's Plate was among the newest neutral items in Dota 2, released just last year in April 2023. It joined the game as part of the massive 7.33 update which expanded the map and welcomed Muerta! But until next time, Martyr's Plate. It's time to head to the bench.

Patch 7.37: Neutral Items re-added

With goodbyes also come hellos! Patch 7.37 cycled back in two former neutral items that we are more than familiar with. Let's take a look at the new additions below.

Ironwood Tree

  • Tier 1
  • +5 to all Attributes
  • Active: Plant Tree - Plants a happy little tree that lasts for 20 seconds. Cooldown: 15s

Some neutral items just make you giggle and Ironwood Tree is one of them. This item returns as a Tier 1 neutral item with plenty of stats to buff your hero. But its most exciting feature is the Plant Tree ability, which lets you.. plant a tree. It shows the iconic GG when planted and can be useful for heroes like Timbersaw and Monkey King.

Ironwood Tree is one of the oldest neutral items in Dota 2, joining the game alongside the first roster of neutral items. It was released in Patch 7.23 in November 2019 and last removed in August 2021. After more than two years of disappearance, Ironwood Tree returns to Dota 2!

Iron Talon

  • Tier 2
  • +20 Attack Speed
  • +4 Armor
  • Active: Chop - Targets a non-player enemy unit to remove 80% of its current HP. If cast on a tree, instantly destroys it. Cooldown: 20s. Tree Cooldown: 4s

Iron Talon's return now adds some spice to Dota 2! The Tier 2 item provides a lot of early attack speed and some armor to your hero. The active Chop ability can hasten your jungling methods and allow you to accumulate gold faster.

This is another iconic return in Dota 2. Iron Talon was known to many old-school players as it was once a purchasable item in Dota 2. It was created in Patch 6.86 which also introduced many core items of the game such as Dragon Lance and Aether Lense. Valve removed Iron Talon from the game in October 2017 and re-introduced it as a neutral item in November 2019. After being absent for a long time, we welcome back the popular neutral item!
