Old but gold: Old G qualifies for Division II of Tour 2 WEU DPC

Can the grandpas of Dota 2 deliver in Division II?

It's the grandpas era! Old G has just qualified for Division II of Western Europe (WEU) Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) and we'll see familiar faces compete in the pro scene once again.

Old G fields the two-time Aegis holder - Sébastien "Ceb" Debs and Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen who returned for competitive Dota 2 after a long break. Legendary CIS player, Volodymyr "Noone" Minenko, assumes the carry role in the team. And for Tour 2, they are joined by Roman "Resolut1on" Fomynok and Kartik "Kitrak" Rathi.

Johan "N0tail" Sundstein, who was a part of Old G in Tour 1, took a step back from competing and is not playing with the team. However, Ceb stated in an interview that he wants to convince N0tail to be involved in any way, possibly as a coach.

This new Old G lineup completely smashed the WEU DPC qualifiers - speedrunning the Open Qualifiers and Closed Qualifier undefeated. With this victory, Old G officially joins the DPC and they arrive with immense expectations.

WEU's Division II looks extra spicy

WEU Div II teams now hold some of the most notable organizations and players including Team Secret, Alliance, and Into the Breach. The division looks incredibly stacked with multiple TI winners, veterans, and rising talents scattered across the league. And this will no doubt bring tons of exciting showdowns.

Here are all the teams competing in WEU DPC Division II next season:

  • Into The Breach
  • Team Secret
  • Alliance
  • D2 Hustlers
  • IVY
  • Ancient Tribe
  • Old G
  • TBD

Division II begins in two weeks

The Division II action in WEU begins on April 5th, 2023. The league spans 20 days and by the end of Division II, the new patch also arrives! It seems like the Dota 2 community has a lot of fun to expect in this month, right before the Berlin Major phase begins.

Will Old G survive in Division II and bag a slot to the upper division? Or will the team crash and burn and suffer relegation? No pressure for the grandpas.
