OG will miss TI for the first time in history after defeat against Quest Esports

OG is out of the WEU TI12 Qualifier.

Western Europe just witnessed a massive elimination as OG bows out of The International 2023 (TI12) Qualifier. They were handed defeat by an eager Quest Esports who will advance to play against Team Secret in the next round. This loss for OG also means their TI streak since 2016 is now broken.

OG's complete Dota 2 roster in TI12 WEU Qualifier:

  • Artem "Yuragi" Golubiev
  • Bozhidar "bzm" Bogdanov
  • Dmitry "DM" Dorokhin
  • Sébastien "Ceb" Debs
  • Kartik "Kitrak" Rathi

A tenuous year for OG

Despite a prominent reputation and heavy expectations on OG, their loss doesn't come as a surprise. OG indeed hasn't been in the best form all year long. Throughout this season, OG has barely retained their position in Division I and they have missed two Majors - the Lima Major and the Bali Major. On top of that, they have continuously faced roster issues - either having roster swaps or stand-ins during tournaments.

Only a month before TI12 WEU Qualifier began, OG shifted its roster again. They parted ways with pos 4, Taiga, and picked up Kitrak who last played for Old G. Not only that, Ceb also enters the picture and fills in the vacant position 5. All in all, things look messy from afar and their performance might have reflected the topsy-turvy situation they are in.

Quest is undoubtedly one of the heavy favorites of Western Europe and they have performed exceptionally well in the series versus OG. With a 2-1 victory, OG is out of the TI12 Qualifier and simultaneously, their long TI streak breaks.

OG has attended every iteration of TI since the org's existence. From TI6 until TI11, OG never failed to show up to Dota 2's grandest stage. But this year sees a change, and OG will be missed.

On the other hand, Quest Esports continues its road to TI12 as it charges ahead to play against Team Secret. Stay tuned to esports.gg for more Dota 2 news and updates.
