Live coverage of the Lima Major Group Stage Draw and fully updated groups for Dota 2’s first South American Major!

The Lima Major is just on the horizon, and the Group Stage Draw is today (Friday, Feb. 17). Five days out from the first ever South American Major, in Lima, Peru, the draw for the groups is set to take place. The 18 teams from around the world will be drafted into two groups of nine, with six teams heading home after the Group Stage.

It's not often we get to see the group draw in Dota 2 tournaments. It's usually something more common in League of Legends or CS:GO. But 4D Esports and Epulze are delivering what is perhaps the first time we've had a publicly broadcast group draw for an official Valve-sanctioned event. And definitely the first post-Covid live draw. A win for transparency and integrity in Dota 2 competition!

Hosted by Marco "Blue" Espinoza on the Spanish stream, and Alvaro "AvoPlus" Sanchez Velasco on the English stream, this unique event will hopefully become a staple of Majors going forward.

Lima Major Groups analysis

In a sometimes confusing production (White screen with team logos?) the groups for the Lima Major were cemented. Group A arguably seems like the stronger and more balanced group, and is really set to be a blood bath. There's a chance that teams like Team Spirit, TSM, and Gaimin, who are strong in their region, could be pushed out early.

Group B on the other hand has some slightly questionable teams. With mounting allegations, will the Knights team even be at the Major? And can the likes of Aster, HellRaisers, and Geek Slate hang with Team Liquid? Group B seems like the best chance for teams like beastcoast and Shopify Rebellion to make a deep run at the Major.

How to watch the Lima Major Group Draw

You can watch the Lima Major Group Draw live on the Epulze Gaming Twitch Channel. The broadcasts starts at 11:30 a.m. PT and will likely last around an hour. A Spanish language stream is also being hosted on the 4D Esports channel at the same time.
