TeaGuvnor just made us all dream about a Battle Pass for The International 2025 — and that feeling is hard to shake.
Two years ago, Valve made a bold decision: kill the Battle Pass and focus on making the game better — a claim many expected would carry into The International 2025. Over the past two years, fans have experienced bittersweet disappointments. Without a Battle Pass, the prize pool dropped significantly, and Dota 2’s biggest tournament is no longer “the highest prize money you can earn playing an esports competition.”
Last year’s Crownfall event satisfied many players. However, it wasn’t an esports-focused experience. It still worked since old players returned to watching and playing Dota 2. However, time is passing, and in-game content is lacking.
The Compendium should be just around the corner. Though players love the talent voice lines, it lacks the mythic Battle Pass rewards: the prize pool progression, the three tiers of treasures, the arcana contest, and event-crafted arcanas. But this year could be different, and Robson "TeaGuvnor" Merritt’s X post caught the community's attention.
“I just smelled something for the first time in 2 years," he wrote. “I hope it is actually returning and not a one-off.”
Let’s do some theorycrafting.
Are there any reliable leaks for the Dota 2 Battle Pass in 2025?
Short answer: No.
Some sources circulated a “leaked” screenshot of a purple Battle Pass featuring Broodmother and Terrorblade arcanas, but it’s been confirmed fake. The designs were taken from the Workshop and still lack upvotes. Also, arcanas typically show up much later in the reward progression — not around level 100 — making the image even less credible.

Yaroslav "NS" Kuznetsov, a more trusted figure, offered his own leak, claiming the Battle Pass would release on June 19. It seemed possible, as NS has previously leaked accurate info about teams and players. But nothing happened — not on June 19, and not on June 24 — the day the 7.39c patch dropped.
"Some event/BP will be released on the 19th, remember this post," NS wrote on Telegram.

Some of his followers now believe something may drop on July 19, but it’s hard to believe the now-streamer missed the date by a whole month.

Community’s reaction to the lack of Battle Pass 2025
People still believe. We still believe.
The Dota 2 subreddit is full of Battle Pass memes. Some of them are funnier than others. But we all know Valve sometimes bends under community pressure, which is why we must raise awareness about u/TrickyElephant’s grandmother, who remains trapped in a cage until Valve releases this year’s Compendium.

Jokes aside, it’s exciting to see the community come together as The International draws near. Players aren’t bashing Valve. They’re just asking for the Battle Pass to return in 2025. Or at least a Crownfall 2 announcement. We all want TI to once again be the most important esports event of the year.
Fortunately, the game itself is in great shape: consistent updates, a lively meta after 7.39, and tournaments that feel electric again.
Stay updated with esports.gg and our Dota 2 section! We’ll post everything about the Battle Pass as soon as it’s released.
Because it is releasing this year... right?
