Are these changes enough to get you back to playing Invoker in Dota 2?
The Dota 2 7.38 update brings massive changes to the game. Not only is the map completely different, but there are also new neutral creeps and mechanics. In addition to all of this, there are numerous changes to almost every hero in the game.
One of the biggest hero changes is Invoker, the magician who now has new facets, tweaks to statistics, and more. Here’s everything that’s new for Invoker.
Invoker changes in 7.38 Dota 2 Update
- Invoker is now an Intelligence Hero
- Base Health Regen decreased from 0.5 to 0.25
- Base Damage increased by 12-10
- Base Intelligence increased from 19 to 20
- Damage at level 1 decreased by 4-6 (from 39-47 to 35-41)
- Strength gain decreased from 2.6 to 2.5
- Agility gain increased from 1.8 to 2
- Intelligence gain increased from 4.0 to 4.7
- Damage gain per level decreased from +5.9 to +4.7
- Damage at level 30 decreased by 46 (from 224-232 to 180-186)
- Removed Mastermind ability
- Now Invoke is classified as Invoker's only innate ability
- Removed Agnostic and Elitist Facets
- Added three orb-centered facets. Each provides an extra level for the specific orb, permanently improves an ability, and sets their own Aghanim's Scepter and Shard upgrades
- Aghanim's Scepter still provides +1 level to all orbs, but also provides an additional level to the orb of the chosen facet, allowing it to reach max level of 10
There’s a significant increase in intelligence for the hero. The hero also receives new facets with the old ones retired, and each facet is centered around one of the three orbs.
Each facet provides an extra level for the accompanying orb, an upgrade to an existing ability and their individual Scepter and Shard upgrades. There’s a lot to unpack with the facets.
Invoker Facets in Dota 2 7.38
Invoker gets three new facets in the 7.38 Dota 2 Patch update. Each facet focuses on one of the three orbs buffing the orb itself as well as some abilities that require that particular orb. Here are the three facets and the respective upgrades or changes.

Talent Changes to Invoker in 7.38 Dota 2
Invoker also received two talent changesin Dota 2. The Intelligence hero will have a -4 second sunstrike cooldown making him more globally active. The level 25 talent will ensure the 2x Quas/Wex/Exort Active bonuses are now set for all facets.
These changes to Invoker hope to make the once-almighty hero more popular. With a very versatile skill set and different ways of playing this hero, it is often one of the most difficult to balance.
There have been different metas with Invoker, including one where Quas Wex was more dominant as well as ones where Exort is the dominant build. It will be interesting to see how pros play around these new changes and how the meta evolves.
