It’s more interesting to fight for the early Roshan now, with Dota 2 7.37 patch giving him some small but valuable changes.

A totally unexpected, but very well received, patch is out for Dota 2! The 7.37 iteration features changes for Roshan's timings, rewards, and interactions with other heroes. While the changes to heroes, items, and gameplay are in the spotlight, it's important to note how this affects the game.

Roshan has been the decider on how the late game develops. Taking this objective early isn't as rewarding unless you have Slardar, Ursa, or Huskar. However, some of the changes make it look like players can take advantage of him earlier in the game.

What are Roshan's changes in Dota 2 Patch 7.37?

Roshan himself did not receive any particular buff or nerf. However, there are four specific changes that make taking him down a more interesting objective early on. These are:

  • Roshan now always drops "Roshan's Banner" starting from his second death. You don't need to do it on Radiant's side anymore.
  • Starting from his third death, the extra rewards are given as follows: Refresher Shard and Cheese during daytime (Radiant), Aghanim's Blessing during nightime (Dire).
  • Roshan's Banner radius increased from 600 to 650
  • Teleporting to Roshan's outposts now take four seconds, instead of six.

The fourth change works better in situations where contesting with a buyback is the only option.

New hero interactions with Roshan

New hero interactions with Roshan have been added in Dota 2's patch 7.37. Make sure you pick these heroes if your strategy depends on taking this objective:

  • Death Prophet: Now able to target Roshan (and Tormentors) with the Spirit Siphon
  • Elder Titan: His new innate ability buffs allied creeps affected by Roshan's Banner (or Glyph of Fortification, including towers) with 100% bonus damage.
  • Templar Assassin: Her new innate ability, Third Eye, allows the whole team to see Roshan's respawn timer. On the other hand, Psionic traps no longer provide vision inside the pit.
