Gamers Without Borders is hosting a huge Dota 2 event featuring prominent teams and a massive prize pool. While the official GWB account does regularly update info about the tournament, it can be hard to track all the Dota 2 action that is on the horizon. We have compiled all information about the event so far, including tournament participants, prize pool, where to watch, and more.

All about Gamers Without Borders Dota 2 that we know so far

Gamers Without Borders is an esports charity event that contributes to humanitarian aid. It covers multiple esports including Fortnite, PUBG Mobile, and Rocket League. For this edition, GWB returns with a $10 million USD prize pool across 3 titles, Fortnite, Dota 2, and Rocket League. 

The Gamers Without Borders Dota 2 event acts as a qualifier for the Summer 22 Flagship LAN event.

What is the prize pool?

The prize pool of Gamers Without Borders Dota 2 is $2 million USD which will go to charity donations. Participants will compete for a slot at the Summer 22 Flagship event that hosts $4 million prize money for the Dota 2 division.

What is the format of Gamers Without Borders Dota 2?

The tournament will be online and divided into 3 regions: Europe, Saudi Arabia, and Asia. Teams will compete among each other in respective regions and the winners will earn a ticket to their next big Dota 2 tournament this coming summer.

GWB Dota 2 format:

  • Online
  • 3 regions: Europe, Saudi Arabia, Asia (SEA + CN)
  • 4 teams per region (2 teams from qualifiers, 2 teams invited directly
  • Double-elimination bracket per region
  • All matches are BO3 (Best of 3) games

Winners from each region will qualify for their live event in Riyadh from 21 - 24 July. There, they will meet against some of the best teams in the world for a slice of a $4 million USD prize pool.

What teams are participating in the event?

A total of 12 teams, comprising a mix of unknown and Tier 1 teams are attending the event. Four of them qualified through the open qualifiers and four of them received direct invites. Each region has a total of 4 teams.

The open qualifiers for each region took place on 30th April 2022. The main event will play out across 5 days from 4 - 8 May.
