Execration and Invictus Gaming are out of the Berlin Major

Three more teams will face the same fate at the end of the Berlin Major Group Stage.

The grueling Dota 2 Berlin Major has shed off another two teams from its Group Stage. Southeast Asia's Execration and China's Invictus Gaming have been eliminated on day four of the Berlin Major. Three more teams will face the same fate as we approach the end of the Group Stage.

The first SEA and CN team take the fall

Execration has been eliminated from the Berlin Major after a lackluster performance in Group A. Despite taking a series win off of BetBoom Team, they struggled against other teams. The full Filipino lineup grabbed a series draw against TSM and suffered 0-2 losses against other opponents. Excration will play against 9 Pandas in their final BO2 series today.

Execration rose to the global stage in Tour 1 when they grabbed a first-place finish in Southeast Asia, defeating other powerhouses like Talon Esports and Fnatic. But their lack of experience on international LANs is apparent as they flunked during the Lima Major and now the Berlin Major. During both Majors, Execration failed to make it out of the Group Stage.

Invictus Gaming had a rough journey in Group B, becoming the first team in the group to be eliminated. They failed to score a single series win and ended with two draws and five losses so far. Invictus Gaming will play their final BO2 series against beastcoast today with no chance of redemption.

The Chinese team made a comeback to the international scene after a disappointing year. The organization last placed 4th at TI10 before they dropped to Division II and struggled to make it back on top. After slowly climbing up, Invictus Gaming booked the fourth slot in China to qualify for the Berlin Major. There weren't too many expectations on their shoulders but IG desperately need DPC points to have a chance at a TI12 direct invite.

Execration and Invictus Gaming join TSM at the bottom place of the Berlin Major, leaving with no prize money and no extra DPC points.

The final day of Berlin Major Group Stage begins today, where the final standings are decided. As for now, Gaimin Gladiators has confirmed an upper-bracket slot from Group A. On the other hand, Group B's upper bracket slots are fully booked with Tundra Esports, OG, Team Spirit, and Shopify Rebellion taking the lead.
