Following a DPC victory, Ceb hopped on the post-match interview and talked about Topson’s unique presence.

Old G just delivered a full sweep against Into The Breach on the first day of Division II's Western Europe (WEU) Dota Pro Circuit (DPC). To no surprise, Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen, performed spectacularly in both games. During the post-match interview, Sébastien "Ceb" Debs praised his midlaner's special presence. He also talked about how Old G utilizes Topson's talent to the max.

The Topson manual is you give him as much freedom as you can, because if you don't, you are not using the player for who he is.

Old G outmaneuvers ITB with solid late-game performances

Tour 3 starts similarly to the previous Tour for Old G. Like deja vu, they bagged a 2-0 debut against Into The Breach. But in this iteration, Old G plays with a new pos 4, Adam "Aramis" Moroz, and Ceb now returns to the offlane position.

The series was a fun back-and-forth. Old G showed a lackluster laning phase in both games which saw ITB take an early lead. However, Topson was an exception. He had an even laning phase in the first game and won his lane dominantly in the second one.

Despite a rocky start in both games, Old G would click by the mid-game and completely outplay their opponents in consecutive teamfights. Both game one and game two witnessed similar progression and Old G ultimately grabbed a 2-0 win.

Ceb talks about Topson and his trendsetting plays

Would (Topson) play with a more experienced, as in more played together team, and a more systematic team.. he would still be one of the best midlaners in the world without a problem.

The two-time TI champion, Ceb, complimented his ride-or-die teammate. He calls Topson a unique player, who would effortlessly become one of the best midlaners in the world. Though sometimes his talent can be diminished due to the state of Old G.

Topson is another kind of player, honestly. Sometimes it doesn't always show because the state of the team, and the project, and everything. But, would he be playing with a more experienced, as in more played together team, and a more systematic team.. he would still be one of the best midlaners in the world without a problem. So Topson is just doing Topson things.

Ceb also explained Topson's unconventional picks and the trust Old G has for him. He describes Topson as someone with immense skill and an out-of-the-box perspective. Ceb believes the team has to give him complete freedom in order for Topson to reach his potential.

The approach has always been the same with Topson ever since we started playing together and I think all teams should follow that script, kinda. The Topson manual is you give him as much freedom as you can because if you don't, you're just not using the player for who he is. So of course maybe it's unconventional to pick Magnus in a game like this, but all of a sudden he destroys mid.

99% of the cases - whatever Topson does, everybody copies.

Ceb proceeds to paint Topson as Dota 2's trendsetter. It is very apparent that Topson loves to experiment and his hero choices and item builds would quickly become the go-to in the Dota 2 community.

He has his own read on the game and I've been alongside him enough time to see that 99% of the cases - whatever he does, everybody copies. So you got to enable him to do his thing, or else it's just a big waste.
