On the back of the latest Dota 2 update, there are some very mixed opinions, which caused a bit of friction between Astini and Insania.
Dota 2’s latest patch has reignited the argument of Immortal Draft. Ever since patch 7.33, professional players and those pushing in the higher echelons of Matchmaking Rankings (MMR) have been on either side of the debate. With the new patch, a new issue has arisen. And once again, the community is split.

This has become a hot topic. It has also caused slight friction between a few professional players online — although it appears to be a harmless disagreement.
Insania questions Team Liquid's involvement
Soon after the patch was released, many took to social media to voice their opinions, concerns, or praise for the update. Long-standing Dota 2 coach, Filipe “Astini” Astini was one of the first to post his views via X. Astini, currently assuming the role of coach for PARIVISION created a post in Portuguese. In it, he basically talks about the restriction on professional player’s match history and replays.

In the post, he explains his point of view, before mentioning Team Liquid in a comment about "smurfing" in Dota 2.
It also valued those who smurfed… Team Liquid for example. Because there you don’t know what they’re training.”
This post caught the attention of Aydin “Insania” Sarkohl, the position 5 support for Liquid. He took the time to question the comment, to which Astini was quick to respond to avoid any further problems or confusion.
Thankfully, this seemed to clear the air rather quickly, and there has been no argument created shortly before an event. Through all of this, the major topic of Immortal Draft was still on the table.

Astini continues to push his point
Astini continued with his point via a 22-minute-long video, explaining why the change, in his opinion, is good. He lays out his points extremely well, giving examples along the way.
In essence, he finds that the patch change will make for more creativity, rather than simply blindly following a meta. At the end of the day, a meta will still form, and players will continue to possibly ignore heroes that could be strong.
However, Astini’s video is worth the watch, as he maps out his thoughts and impressions. One of his major points is that players will now need to watch tournaments to see how the pros are playing. This could bring back viewers to Dota 2 events beyond The International.
It will be interesting to see if this is the case, with a string of big tournaments right around the corner. This coming weekend we see FISSURE Universe Episode 4 before ESL One Raleigh 2025 kicks off in April. All in all, there are valid points on both sides of the Immortal Draft debacle, and players will continue to be split in their opinions.
