Aurora will find a new midlaner in place of Armel.

One of Southeast Asia's most prominent Dota 2 teams has made changes to its roster. Aurora has moved its Filipino midlaner, Armel, to its inactive roster. The organization has yet to reveal who replaces Armel in the midlane.

"Armel will be moved to the benched position. Thank you for all the games and emotions you gave us dad Armel," Aurora posted.

Aurora also followed up the announcement with a heart-warming farewell video. The 50-second clip showcased moments from his time with Aurora and it ended with a thank you for the midlaner.

Aurora's current Dota 2 roster is as follows:

  • Nuengnara "23" Teeramahanon
  • TBA
  • Anucha "Jabz" Jirawong
  • Worawit "Q" Mekchai
  • Chan "Oli" Chon Kien

Armel steps back after entering fatherhood

Armel is one of the veterans of SEA Dota 2. He began competing at a young age of 16 and rose to the global stage rapidly, participating in The International 2018, at only 18 years old. The talented midlaner has experienced the highs of competition. And it seems like he's now shifting his focus to his personal life.

On February 25, Armel announced the birth of his first child on Facebook. Because of this, Armel took a break from the ongoing DreamLeague Season 22 to focus on his family. This new and exciting phase of fatherhood is likely the reason why Armel has moved to Aurora's inactive roster.

Who will replace Armel?

With Armel sitting on the bench, there is a vacant spot in Aurora's core lineup. During Armel's absence in DreamLeague Season 22, Ukrainian midlaner, Artem "lorenof" Melnick, filled in his shoes. This saw a great result with Aurora grabbing an impressive top 8 finish. Aurora may or may not continue with Lorenof but there is the language and culture barrier that may not be suitable for a long-term commitment.
