40,000 Dota 2 games, still Herald: The story of AndreyIMMERSION

Insanity or max grinding? Meet the first Dota 2 player in history to play 40,000 games.

Did you know that 40,000 games of Dota 2, with an average of 40 minutes per game, is more than 26,666.67 hours of playing it? But let's be reasonable. Let's say you play only 8 hours a day. That’s 3,333.33 days or 9.13 years. Congratulations! You've completed the tutorial.

However, this is not you, fortunately. This is the newest world record by AndreyIMMERSION, a popular streamer from Russia. Perhaps the greatest accomplishment isn’t the number of hours played, but the fact that he never climbed past the lowest rank available. Never. You read it right. After playing more than the average professional Dota 2 player, Andrey stayed a "Herald II," not even "Guardian."

Who is AndreyIMMERSION?

There's little to no information about the 40,000 Dota 2 games record holder in English. According to an old publication by Cybersport.ru, he retired from the army and is currently 39 years old. In order to buy his first computer, he saved money recycling plastic bottles. This level of try-hardness took him to the online world, where he decided his new passion was becoming a streamer.

But before all this, things were complicated for Andrey. He's known for not having social media profiles aside from his streaming channels. According to the interview, he decided to open a LAN center, but failed to make it work and had to close his business. Thanks to the money he saved, and with help from a fellow content creator named etosereGGa, he managed to buy a PC capable of streaming. And that's where his story began.

AndreyIMMERSION's streams last from eight to 12 hours, though his very first stream lasted 30 hours. It was etosereGGa who had to tell him to turn the stream off due to concerns about his health. Also, there's that time when he promised to make a Q&A stream for 48 hours straight. This was to celebrate his 30,000th game. At the time, he was still "Herald II" or around 154-307 MMR points.

Are there other players close to 40,000 games of Dota 2?

According to DOTABUFF.com, the next player behind AndreyIMMERSION is DegyIIIka, an "Archon V" player with almost 38,000 games to his name. However, the website is not able to register turbo and some lobby games as part of this statistic, which means that he could be closer.

Users on Reddit are already asking Valve to send AndreyIMMERSION some kind of gift if he reaches 50,000 — which may happen, most likely, in a year and a half at this pace. While it's not clear if this will occur, there’s no record of previous actions by the company to acknowledge frequent players.

But don't worry, AndreyIMMERSION, we've noticed you and acknowledge your value. We will be covering more news about his journey on our Dota 2 section. And who knows — maybe we’ll even get an interview with him and convince him to use more social media like our X page!
