A server snag has caused a delay for the new Diablo IV Season of Blood content, with Blizzard unsure when things will be online.

If you were hoping to immediately get into the new Diablo IV Season of Blood content then we have bad news. Blizzard announced a delay in the new Diablo IV season almost as soon as the patch hit live servers. Currently, if you attempt to log in and create a new character it will just be a typical 'Eternal Realm,' non-seasonal toon.

Here's what Blizzard is saying about the Diablo IV delay. Bookmark this page, as we will update it as new information becomes available.

Editor's update, 3:25 p.m.: The Season of Blood update is now live.

What is causing the Diablo IV delay for Season of Blood?

A Blizzard blue post at 1:01 p.m. EST this afternoon revealed a Diablo IV delay of the new Season of Blood. Set to start at 1 p.m. EST, Blizzard says about the delay, "We have encountered some technical issues with our current build and will be delaying Season of Blood’s start time by a few hours to remedy these issues."

"Once we have more information, we’ll update you right away. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the feedback you have provided and your patience."

The delay is yet another rake in the face of a game unable to find its footing post-launch. A poor reception to the first season kicked off a bad streak for the new Diablo game. Will a further delay for the Diablo IV Season of Blood make things worse?

We'll let you know once the Season of Blood servers are up and online.
