Pressure from the Destiny 2 community over Rite of the Nine miscommunication has Bungie backpedaling.
Destiny 2 developers Bungie have bowed to community pressure, altering the Rite of the Nine schedule following criticism over the time-gated event. Devs will also be boosting weapon drop rates and event currency rates to cater to demand.
As guardians flooded servers for the weekly reset yesterday, many were shocked to see the same Rite of the Nine dungeon Spire of the Watcher once again. It was originally communicated that reprised dungeons would rotate in each week.

Rite of the Nine schedule, rotation shortened; "lootapalooza" week added to compensate Destiny 2 players
After near global backlash over the extended duration of Rite of the Nine's dungeon, Bungie has shortened the length of time each dungeon will be available. Now, Spire of the Watcher will depart May 20, a week earlier than planned. Prophecy will then arrive on June 3.
Each dungeon will be available in Rite of the Nine for two weeks now (was three), will all available at the same time from June 17. It was originally assumed that dungeons for the event would rotate weekly.
Bungie will also be increasing weapon drop rates for Spire of the Watcher this week before Ghosts of the Deep arrives next weekly reset on Tuesday. This additional weapon drop boost will be put in place for the second week of each dungeon's rotation.
On top of this, Bungie has boosted the event currency drop rate, Nonary Manifold, before introducing a "lootapalooza" week on July 8 with all three dungeons having massively increased weapon drop rates. There will also be a "new way" to spend Nonary Manifold, so it's recommended that players save up the currency once they're done rerolling for the weapons they want.

The changes come after anger following the launch of week two of Rite of the Nine's schedule. Many logged into Destiny keen to rip into a new Rite of the Nine dungeon — only to be met with Spire of the Watcher again.
From confusion over poorly-communicated messages in the weekly blog to outright rage over the lack of rotating dungeons, it's clear the Destiny 2 community weren't pleased with Rite of the Nine after week one — especially saddening given the number of players who have been eager to play the dungeons for the first time thanks to the launch of the easier Explorer mode.
