Every Destiny 2 raid from the extravagant Leviathan to the twisting dark Monolith.
The campaign done, your Nightfalls cleared, your Destiny 2 power level at it's maximum. Now comes the time where you brave the ultimate Destiny endgame experience: raids.
Raids are comprised of multiple stages or encounters of increasing difficulty, comprising of complex puzzles and huge boss fights in a race against the clock. Raids are more often than not the hardest, but the most rewarding of challenges a guardian can face.
Here's a list of every raid released in Destiny 2, from it's launch to the current day.
All Destiny 2 raids
Leviathan

- Release date: Sep. 13, 2017
- Enemy type: Cabal
- World's First completion time: 5hr 30min
The Leviathan was the first raid released in Destiny 2, launching shortly after the game went live worldwide. Guardians dove deep into Emperor Calus' ship, the Leviathan, seeking an audience. There was plenty more to be found with secret passageways hidden between each encounter.
Leviathan Raid Lairs
- Eater of Worlds: Dec. 8, 2017
- Spire of Stars: May 11, 2018
For the following months guardians revisited the Leviathan with Raid Lairs, released during each "season" (Curse of Osiris, Warmind). These raid lairs were essentially one to two additional rooms in the Leviathan and several encounters each scaling in complexity.
Spire of Stars was noted then as one of the hardest endgame activities in the franchise's history, frustrating guardians right up until it's removal.
Last Wish

- Release date: Sep. 14, 2018
- Enemy type: Taken
- World's First completion time: 18hrs 45min
Last Wish arrived in September 2018 off the back of the super-successful Forsaken expansion. The raid set a new standard for endgame activities in Destiny 2, with guardians delving into the Dreaming City and uncovering the source of the Taken corruption at it's heart.
Seriously, this is one of the best raids ever created by Bungie (if you don't cheese it!), with the ever-popular World's First race the longest ever. The first team to clear the raid took almost 19 hours, and just two fireteams completing it within the 24-hour limit.
Scourge of the Past

- Release date: Dec. 7, 2018
- Enemy type: Fallen
- World's First completion time: 1hr 47min
Scourge of the Past, in comparison to Last Wish, was over in a blink of an eye. At one hour and 47 minutes it's the shortest day one raid ever, with three main encounters of note.
That said, many veteran guardians remember Scourge fondly; from jumping over rooftop buildings to an intense "sparrow race" as you try to outrun a flaming-hot Fallen Servitor.
Crown of Sorrow

- Release date: June 4, 2019
- Enemy type: Hive
- World's First completion time: 4hr 30min
Gahlran emerged as a major threat inside of the Leviathan, with guardians tasked by Emperor Calus to enter the treasure hoard and take down the infected Cabal.
There were just two main rooms to Crown of Sorrow, but the two-stage Gahlran fight demanded perfect communication from each member of the fireteam as you worked to leapfrog over one other, completing objectives that stopped Gahlran from wiping you.
Garden of Salvation

- Release date: Oct. 5, 2019
- Enemy type: Vex
- World's First completion time: 6hr 14min
The Black Garden beckoned once more with fireteams entering Garden of Salvation during Shadowkeep. The Sol Divisive were drawn to the Moon's Pyramid, awakening all over the system, so guardians were tasked with finding out why the Vex were so keen to approach the signal.
Between the lengthy puzzle to unlock Divinity and a pressure-cooker of a fight against the Sanctified Mind final boss, it's not a raid many players returned to — even after it's reprisal and loot refresh in 2024.
Deep Stone Crypt

- Release date: Nov. 21, 2020
- Enemy type: Fallen
- World's First completion time: 5hr 29min
Beyond Light introduced more than just the first Darkness subclass, with guardians tasked to enter the Deep Stone Crypt on Europa. More about Clovis Bray's research on the Darkness was uncovered, but the highlight of the raid was easily entering and traversing the space station in orbit.
Guardians jumped through zero gravity and fought waves of Eliksni before crashing the station back to Europa and defeating Taniks once and for all (nah, he'll eventually return to fight again elsewhere).
DSC was a brilliant raid and fondly remembered by many guardians, with fireteams still running the raid regularly to this day.

- Release date: May 22, 2021
- Enemy type: Vex
- World's First completion time: 6hr
Vault of Glass was the first Destiny 1 raid reprised with a fresh coat of paint in the sequel. It launched in 2021 and while most of the mechanics remained the same, its weapons got a huge update and visually, the raid is stunning in Destiny 2.
World's First runs included a challenge mode with additional tasks needed for fireteams to claim the title belt.
Vow of the Disciple

- Release date: March 5, 2022
- Enemy type: Hive, Scorn, Taken
- World's First completion time: 7hr 14min
Vow of the Disciple was the first raid in which we properly entered a Pyramid of Darkness. Deep in Savathûn's Throne World lay Rhulk's Pyramid, with guardians tasked to take on the first Disciple of the Witness.
Like Last Wish, Vow was praised almost immediately for its incredible visual identity, it's excruciating puzzle-like encounters, and it's final boss battle against Rhulk. There was no massive huge boss in size, yet Rhulk was more menacing than many raid bosses we'd fought in the past. Don't let him roundhouse kick you off the map!
King's Fall

- Release date: Aug. 26, 2022
- Enemy type: Hive, Taken
- World's First completion time: 2hr 32min
Veteran guardians got to relive the glorious battle against Oryx in the reprised King's Fall in 2022, the second of three reprised raids from Destiny 1.
Each of its weapons was given an update with new perks, including a revamped Touch of Malice. Otherwise, much of the original raid and its mechanics were kept intact.
Root of Nightmates

- Release date: March 10, 2023
- Enemy type: Cabal
- World's First completion time: 2hr 25min
As the Final Shape approached, guardians challenged the returning disciple Nezarec, the Final God of Pain in the Root of Nightmares. This was the final original raid before The Final Shape expansion, and it saw guardians traverse the Witness' Pyramid outside of Earth orbit to take down a now reinfused Nezarec.
Featuring picturesque landscapes of Pyramid tech entangled with terraformed Light from the Traveler, Root of Nightmares is a difficult slog with an epic final battle mixing Dark and Light.
Crota's End

- Release date: Sep. 1, 2023
- Enemy type: Hive
- World's First completion time: 3hr 13min
Crota's End was reprised in 2023, returning to the franchise with the same objective: to finish the Son of Crota once and for all.
Like in King's Fall, there were a few minute changes to the mechanics of the raid, but most of the updates came with the weapons dropped — including Necrochasm, the Exotic auto rifle up for grabs.
Salvation's Edge

- Release date: June 7, 2024
- Enemy type: Vex, Cabal, Taken, Hive, Scorn, Dread
- World's First completion time: 18hr 59min
With The Final Shape came Salvation's Edge, the last raid in the Light and Darkness saga. With all barriers down, The Witness was vulnerable in the Pale Heart of the Traveler. Fireteams climbed the Monolith mere moments before The Witness enacted finality and destroyed the known universe.
It's easily the most grueling of raids to be released in Destiny 2. Day one fireteams were left overworked and puzzled by its encounters, with the raid finally defeated after a record 18 hours and 59 minutes.
Untitled 2025 Raid (The Edge of Fate)

As to what's next, we can only guess! Given we're off to Kepler in The Edge of Light in July 2025 we assume the next raid will also take place in the destination.
We know that each yearly expansion will feature one raid and one dungeon. The mid-expansion update coming with The Edge of Fate, known as Ash & Blood, sees guardians return to the Plaguelands — perhaps it's hinting that the next dungeon will involve something to do with the Wrath of the Machine Destiny 1 raid? Ok, ok, we're reaching!
With a healthy player base and rewards aplenty, there's never a bad time to jump into Destiny 2's endgame and take on the challenging raids that wait. Best of luck!
