Back to the battle

BOOMTV has announced its second Deadlock event- Proving Grounds #2 -  further cementing the esports scene in Valve’s yet-to-release FPS title. The tournament is available for North American players and will help players determine their ranking amongst their peers. Here’s all you need to know about this new event.

Proving Grounds #2 Deadlock Event

The Proving Grounds #2 event kicks off on October 13. This event also features a $500 prize pool and if we go by the previous tournament, the winner should receive $300. The runners-up will get $180 in prize money but more importantly, the tournament serves as the perfect scouting opportunity for teams looking to get into Deadlock esports.

The tournament is free to enter for participants, so there is bound to be immense competition. Players wanting to register can do so on BOOM.tv which is also where the event will be streamed.

Deadlock has become wildly popular following Valve opening up the game. Previously, it was under strict NDA but now players can stream and talk about the game’s features. It is a game that requires meticulous planning along with decent aim, bringing together elements of FPS and MOBA together. With two of the best-selling games in each genre under their belt, Valve seemed to be in the perfect position to make such a game.

BOOMTV has already hosted Deadlock events, with Proving Grounds #1 being a phenomenal success. The first tournament took place in late September, featuring a packed team list. The Unknown won the event following a best-of-one Grand Finals victory over The Deadlock team. There were 95 teams in participation, highlighting the game’s popularity and players’ willingness to compete. Proving Grounds #2 may prove to be a bigger hit with potentially up to 128 teams coming together in participation
