PGL announces RMR events for CS2 Major

Here’s all you need to know about the first Counter-Strike 2 Major.

PGL has announced the schedule for the Regional Major Rankings for the first-ever CS2 Major in 2024. The PGL CS2 Major will take place in Copenhagen from March 17 to 31, 2024.

Valve unveiled Counter-Strike 2 earlier this year much to the surprise of many. With significant changes to some of the mechanics as well as improved graphics, CS2 is an upgrade to the current game. It is built on the Source 2 engine, which unlocks several of these new features.

PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen

The first CS2 Major will take place in Copenhagen in March of next year. It will take place at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, which has been home to several BLAST Premier events as well as other esports events in Denmark.

The prize pool for the event remains $1.25 million with the winner taking the lion’s share of the prize money. However, for most teams, it is an opportunity to cement their names in history. The winner of this event will be remembered as the team that won the first-ever Counter-Strike 2 Major.

CS2 Major RMR events

The tournament organizer has also unveiled the dates for the multiple Regional Major Ranking events. The RMR events kick off in mid-February and continue till a few weeks before the start of the PGL CS2 Major.

  • RMR Europe - February 14-24, 2024
  • RMR Asia - February 26-29, 2024
  • and RMR Americas - March 1-4, 2024

The actual Major kicks off on March 17, 2024. The CS2 Copenhagen Major will feature three stages as Challengers, Legends, and finally the Champions stage.

  • Challengers Stage - March 17-20, 2024
  • Legends Stage - March 21-24, 2024
  • Champions Stage - March 28-31, 2024

Recently Valve opened up more beta invites to Counter-Strike 2. This is the first time after the game’s initial announcement that Valve has decided to add more players. With responsive smokes, better graphics, and a new sub-tick system, Counter-Strike 2 will bring about significant performance improvements over its predecessor.
